We were kindly invited to the mini media night at Sui Restaurant on Unley to try their Christmas Banquet and additional menu items. Open since May, they are an Asian Fusion restaurant, spanning Malaysian inspired dishes on their lunch menu, and a Taiwanese & Chinese inspired menu for dinner.
We were provided with a set menu that featured a banquet and some additional dishes:
Entrees
Signature Peking Duck with Pancakes
Abalone Salad (not part of the banquet)
Spicy Golden Kimchi
Lychee Prawn
Spinach Seafood Soup
Mains
Orange Pork Ribs
Pineapple Prawn
Egg Yolk Pumpkin
Sizzling Black Pepper Chicken
Braised Pork Belly (not part of the banquet)
Duck Fried Rice
Dessert
Cendol
Fried Icecream (not part of the banquet)
Standout dishes for us were the:
Spicy Golden Kimchi (actually had a kick to it)
Lychee Prawn (that cheese inside, OMG!)
Peking Duck (very tender, only wished the skin was crispier)
Overall, some of the dishes in the banquet didn’t suit our palette, as we are accustomed to more traditional flavours as that is what we’ve have grown up with. We are keen to come back and try some of the more authentic Malaysian and Taiwanese dishes. The Cendol for us was a bit too watered down, could have done with more coconut milk and gula melaka.
Big thank you to Bellbrenda for being an amazing host, and doing such a fantastic job on organising a great event. We enjoyed the intimate round table seating (ignited by our inner asian 😂), allowing us to have a proper conversation and get to know the other foodies! The names on the fried ice cream were a lovely touch!
BONUS: If you show our post when you visit, you will receive a free drink, alcohol included 😂 Promo runs all of December !
